The article concerns the work that was taken up by the 12th lord of a manor on Zamosc - Stanislaw Kostka Zamoyski - in the field of education and learning within the activity of central educational authorities and on the premises of property belonging to the estate of Zamosc in the years 1801 - 1831. In the Grand Duchy's of Warsaw days, since 1809 he participated and acted within government structures working over issues concerning education. As a representative of Galicia that had just been incorporated, he was also one of many honorary members of Public Education Management of the Grand Duchy of Warsaw. Subsequently, since May 1814 he worked in the Church Affairs and Education Department within Civil Committee in Warsaw. After the act of proclamation of the Kingdom of Poland (May 25, 1815) when the Government Board of Religious Denominations and Public Education was set up, Zamoyski was its member again. As the President of the Board , S. K. Potocki tried to set bounds to the Church in the field of education. Against such policy stood out the Opposition animated by the priesthood that was also favoured by Zamoyski. After Potocki's resignation (1820) his post was taken over by the votary of pro-Russian trend of politics and conservtive idea - S. Grabowski, who appointed to the Committee people siding with him: J. K. Szaniawski, J. Tarnowski and Zamoyski. What interesting, shortly afterwards Zamoyski grew disgusted with anti-Polish operations taken up by N. Novosiltsov (commissioner of Tsar Nikolai), and stopped performing his duties. Since then he went in for reorganizing and founding schools in his landed property. On the premises of estate Zamoyski paid special attention to education and educational system, in particular concerning secondary, elementary and specialistic - technical education.
