Long-term preservation of access to electronic resources subscribed to by libraries becomes more and more popular in the world. The authors discuss and compare two American projects for preservation of library electronic resources: Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS) and Portico. They present the results of research on the use of LOCKSS and Portico in selected European university libraries and potential usefulness of both systems for Polish scholarly community.

In the first part the paper summarizes and brings the critical comments on the basic development of the Czech music lexicography. The following part outlines the conceptual, methodological and technical aspects of 'Cesky hudebni slovnik osob a instituci' (Czech Music Dictionary of Persons and Institutions; work in progress), mainly from the view of the electronic publication in the form of an open source internet database, which, in this form and extent, is used for the first time in the Czech Musicology. The other dictionary projects, in preparation by the Music lexicography department at the Institute of Musicology, Masaryk university, in the form of open-source electronic database systems, are described in the third part of the paper.
