The article is aimed at making an attempt of answering the question what emerges from the development of methodology of science in general which can be considered equivalent to evolution of models of validation of scientific knowledge and how can the methodology of economic sciences benefit from this development. Does it lead to developing a uniform methodology of methodological sciences or conversely, does it contribute to increasing the diversity of research approaches in economics? The article presents, in a synthetical and systematized way, rationalistic, empirical and holistic models of validation of the scientific knowledge and conclusions for the methodology of economic sciences. The author highlights the richness of possible approaches to research problems in economy and business administration and emphasises fundamental criteria of selection of approach which are: the accuracy of research and discovery of truth.
