The influence of EU subsidies on the development of enterprises was examined in 2006 in randomly chosen enterprises inthe warminsko-mazurskie province. There was a hypothesis made that EU funds increase the economic effectiveness of the funds already existing in the enterprise. This hypothesis has been positively verified, EU subsidies lead to appropriate economic changes in an enterprise, they restrict the risk of managing the company's own capital, besides, they allow for a more long-lasting and faster development of an enterprise in comparison to development with use of a borrowed capital.
