The aim of this article is to present the Easter singing in the liturgy and in folk music tradition of Podkarpacie as well as their analysis and characterization. The collected repertoire includes both melodies referring to the Gregorian chant patterns and created in the major-minor mode. Studies show that Easter songs are mainly performed within the liturgical rites of the Mass of Resurrection as well as during the liturgies celebrated throughout the whole Easter time. Still, in Podkarpacie this repertoire entering into folk circulation combines liturgical aspect with folk reception. The result of these relationships is the phenomenon of variability with which one can meet in this species of singing. The analysis proves that the transformations that occur due to folk performance relate primarily to melodies and metrorythmics of Easter singing as well as to their form and text layer. Prevalence of the non-metric melodies as a result of folk thinking with a music phrase should be noted. One can also meet genetically folk songs. In the studied Easter repertoire functioning in the oral tradition of Podkarpacie there are clear regional conditions that determine the specific, locally different face of these singing.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie śpiewów wielkanocnych w liturgii i ludowej tradycji muzycznej Podkarpacia, a także ich analiza i charakterystyka. Zebrany repertuar obejmuje zarówno melodie nawiązujące do wzorców chorałowych, jak i utrzymane w trybie dur-moll. Przeprowadzone badania wykazują, że pieśni wielkanocne wykonywane są głównie w ramach obrzędów liturgicznych Mszy rezurekcyjnej, jak też podczas sprawowanych liturgii całego okresu wielkanocnego. Mimo to na Podkarpaciu, wchodząc w obieg ludowy, łączą w sobie wymiar liturgiczny z ludową recepcją. Efektem tych relacji jest zjawisko wariabilności, z jakim spotykamy się na gruncie tego gatunku śpiewów. Przeprowadzona analiza udowadnia, że transformacje, które dokonują się za sprawą ludowego wykonawstwa, dotyczą przede wszystkim melodii i metrorytmiki śpiewów wielkanocnych, jak też ich formy i warstwy tekstowej. Przeważają przekazy bezmetryczne jako wynik ludowego myślenia frazą muzyczną. Spotykamy też śpiewy genetycznie ludowe. W badanym repertuarze wielkanocnym funkcjonującym w tradycji ustnej na Podkarpaciu widoczne są wyraźne uwarunkowania regionalne, które decydują o swoistym, lokalnie odmiennym obliczu tych śpiewów.

The object of interest is a description of manuscript L 1642 which belongs to the Diocesan Library in Sandomierz. This manuscript is a Hymnal, which was written in 1721 and it belonged to the Benedictine Sisters in Sandomierz. The material includes medieval European and Polish 16th and 17th century liturgical and paraliturgical songs. The texts in the manuscript are written in Latin and Polish. The Hymnal contains carols, the Advent, Easter and Passion songs among others; there are 77 works in total and only one has no musical notes (its text is written at the end of the manuscript). Most works are known and correspond with the content of other hymnals, e.g. the ones that belonged to the Benedictine Sisters in Staniątki, the Carmelite Sisters in Kraków, and the Clarisse Sisters in Gniezno. There are also some songs in Walenty Bartoszewski’s ("Parthenomelica albo Pienia nabożne o Pannie Najświętszej", 1613) and Stanisław Serafin Jagodyński’s works ("Pieśni katolickie nowo reformowane", 1638). The Hymnal is compiled by Anna Stogniewówna or, according to Magdalena Walter-Mazur, by Zofia Bratysiewiczówna. The manuscript is an interesting source of the known literary and musical culture of the Benedictine Sisters in Sandomierz. It also shows the popularity of these religious works. The Hymnal also contains some unknown versions of songs.
