Przedmiotem artykułu jest wskazanie na to, że chociaż jesteśmy państwem członkowskim Unii Europejskiej, nie do końca włączamy się w nurt postępu integracji gospodarczej. Chociaż nadal otwarte jest pytanie o wejście Polski do strefy euro, pomijane lub lekceważone są inicjatywy integracyjne obejmujące całą UE. Hipotezą badawczą jest więc: Polska, przez swoje w wielu kwestiach obojętne stanowisko w różnych obszarach integracji, traci szanse na korzyści z integracji, a wraz z tym tracą polskie gospodarstwa domowe i przedsiębiorstwa i to mimo wielu oddolnych inicjatyw na szczeblu samorządowym czy działań lobbystycznych. Widoczne jest to np. w polskim sektorze bankowym, który mimo wielkiego skoku jakościowego, jaki się w nim dokonał, ma problemy z wyjściem do Europy.

The subject matter of the article is to show that though Poland is a member state of the European Union, it does not fully join the stream of progress of economic integration. Albeit there still remain open the question of Poland’s accession to the euro area, there are omitted or neglected the integration initiatives comprising the whole EU. Therefore, the research hypothesis is as follows: Poland, due to its, on many issues, indifferent stance in various areas of integration, wastes the opportunities for benefits of integration; together with it, at waste are Polish households and enterprises, and it is so despite many grassroots initiatives at the self-governmental level or lobbying actions. This can be seen, for example, in the Polish banking sector which, despite the great qualitative jump made in it, has problems with entering Europe.
