Today's pastorate is looking for topical models of preaching the Gospel. The article presents Franciszek Blachnicki's proposition that any pastoral work should be based on the Gospel. Experience shows that a considerable part of Christians do not fully live according to the Gospel. This leads to the conclusion that most practicing Catholics need to be evangelized. The need to preach the truth of the faith is ever more necessary also among those people who are christened, but have never accepted Christ as the Lord and the Savior. Also the postulate of a well-thought out pastorate is distinct, where through a clear vision mature attitudes are formed. Such a model of pastorate based on evangelization ultimately is to lead to building the community of the Church.

One of the most important practical suggestions resulting from ecclesiological deduction of the pastoral theology was the suggestion of a shift from pastoral ministry to evangelization, which Blachnicki called ”a Copernican revolution”. The process of realization of the Church starts with evangelization, which initiates liberating processes in both individuals and entire communities. The next stage of the process is introduction – through a catechumenal formation – to living in the ecclesiastical community. Therefore, for Fr. Blachnicki the principal conclusion drawn from the fact that the Church realizes itself in specific communities is a postulate that the entire pastoral ministry should be reshaped to serve the formation of basic communities of Christian life within the parish. Hence it is necessary to implement the introduction of a model of the communal parish. A dilemma that emerges from this context is how to introduce a post-conciliar model of the parish, if it is impossible to build a living community of the Church without mature ecclesial communities. To solve this dilemma, the founder of Light-Life Movement pointed to the role and opportunity offered by movements based on comprehensive and catechumenal formation within the contemporary Church.

The Christian Service for Human Liberation is the ultimate life work of Fr. Franciszek Blachnicki. It was established abroad, in the Federal Republic of Germany, in 1982. The Creator of the Light-Life Movement was forced to stay abroad due to martial law imposed in the Polish People’s Republic. Searching for the meaning of this dramatic event, Fr. Blachnicki turned to faith for the answer. His speeches and activities made him known as an outstanding expert in the ongoing socio-political processes, including the assessment of communist ideology, which destroyed human freedom by means of lies and violence. He preached the doctrine, based on the gospel, that liberation is a process given by Jesus Christ who, while taking away the sins of the world, restores in man inner freedom on which social freedom can be built and in which the liberation of nations can be achieved. He expressed the wisdom in three notions: Truth, the Cross and Liberation.

The man’s transcendence means crossing the impersonal world with his qualities, but nowadays he is frequently placed only on the plane of the material world. It is for this reason that care for greatness and dignity of each man as a person should be put at the foundation of the integral conception of education. The idea of love of God and the neighbor assumes respecting the personal freedom of man, who can respond to God’s love only as a free creature. Only accepting the personalistic vision of man makes education assume a truly human character. This is why in the present article the issue of the conception of education as a synthesis of anthropocentrism and Christocentrism as defined by Rev. Franciszek Blachnicki is discussed. First the integral character of Christian personalism is presented; and then on this basis the new man is shown – a love dialog between God and people, as well as the principles of personalistic catechesis.

In the first part of his paper the author refers to texts by father Blachnicki which were published in Tygodnik Powszechny in 1973. This inspired a wide-ranging discussion on an actual condition of the Polish Catholicism. Referring to results of a sociological research on Polish religiousness made by father Piwowarski, Blachnicki pointed at weaknesses of a traditional ministry and existing forms of catechesis of these times. At the same time he suggested four major directions of a renewal in the conciliar spirit. According to Blachnicki the said measures should be taken to reach the following aims: renewal of catechesis, renewal of Polish families, organization of a catechesis for the grown-ups and a renewal of a liturgy. In his paper the author tries to look at the said issues in a spirit of pastoral and scientific searches of father Blachnicki. The aim is to look at the range of topics from a contemporary ministry perspective and point at the tasks which, in spite of genuine efforts of the past years, still call for their final accomplishment.

On jest umęczony krzyżem i ukoronowany chwałą zmartwychwstania.

The article presents a real person who experienced the paschal mystery of Christ. The person is placed in a specific historical context. Moreover, the article shows the external circumstances of the Servant of God Fr. Franciszek Blachnicki’s life and the dynamics of his internal life from the paschal perspective that is rooted in baptism. A constant struggle with egoism as a continuous passage (Passover) from the own “I” – esse naturale to a new man – esse supernaturale; passing from shortcomings and weaknesses to virtue, from everything that enslaves to everything that gives freedom – all these brought visible fruit in the pastoral work. Indeed, all these may be possible only when the priest deliberately shares his fate with the fate of Paschal Christ. He is tormented by the Cross and crowned with the glory of the resurrection.

Boskie pochodzenie Kościoła i implikacja dzieła Trzech Osób Boskich wyraża lud zjednoczony w jedności Ojca i Syna i Ducha Świętego. W nim człowiek zanurzony doświadcza pośrednictwa zbawczego w komunikacji z Chrystusem Zmartwychwstałym. Zbawcza komunikacja to dar i uczestnictwo w Boskim życiu, przez i w pośrednictwie Kościoła. Swoje głębokie zakorzenienie w eklezjologii communio doskonale widział Sługa Boży ks. Franciszek Blachnicki.

The Divine origin of the Church and the implication of the works of the Holy Trinity is expressed by the people united in the unity of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. This means people integrated into the unique community called communio. It is the relationship of man with the Triune, Personal Creator, Redeemer and Savior of the human race in the “interdependence”, which we call – the Church. This community, began in the consciousness of faith, seeks to reach the eschatic fulfi llment. One immersed in it experiences the salvifi c mediation in communication with the Risen Christ. The saving communication is a gift and participation in the divine life, “through” and “in” the mediation of the Church. Father Franciszek Blachnicki, the Servant of God, has seen his own deepest roots in the ecclesiology of communion. The originality of his approach is based on a splendid interpretation of ecclesial refl ection on Church which was done by The Second Vatican Council. Blachnicki has also sought to implement this vision in the authentic transmission of the faith in the Church. He has seen the Church as the Community way of the man towards salvation fulfi lled in Jesus Christ. In today’s context of the new evangelization this refl ection can be undeniably considered as an idea of a truly prophetic kind.
