Examples of sexual inequality in Polish society can be found in private (the family and the household and in public spheres (at work or in access to authority). The proposed tools for testing the attitudes towards inequality between men and women involves surveying convictions concerning the existing sexual inequality in society (the cognitive component of the attitude) and the reactions to it (the emotional component of the attitude). As a result it is possible to define the awareness of the existence of sexual inequality and the level of egalitarianism in the attitude towards it. The article describes the use of this tool in testing the attitudes of students of diverse department of the university.

Feminismus a sexuální výchova

The article introduces a particular outcome of an ethnographic research that was conducted in the 6th grade of elementary school and which focused on gender aspects of education. It presents the analysis of sexual education. It is believed that sexual education is more a 'girls' thing', that girls are more concerned about the topic and are more involved. The author reveals this believe is a myth and shows how the discursive practices leave the girls out of the discourse and make them more silent and less involved in the discussion than in any other subjects in school. The author argues that sexual education, which is not gender sensitive and is not reflecting gender inequalities, is reproducing gender hierarchy and contributes to inscription the gender inequality into girls' and boys' bodies. She suggests that inclusion of feminist reflection into sexual education and especially the deconstruction of normative heterosexuality and deconstruction of the concept of sex as primarily procreative would help to create a gender sensitive sexual education curriculum and would help girls and boys to create a freer sexual subjectivity not burdened by gender stereotypes.

GENDER DIFFERENCES IN ATTITUDES ON GENDER INEQUALITY

70%
EN
The study analyzes attitudes on gender inequality within a family in Slovakia. Specifically, binomial and ordered probity estimation is used to identify demographical characteristics that influence the likelihood of selecting a specific answer to an attitudinal question. In addition, marginal effects on statistically significant variables are reported in order to demonstrate the impact of these variables. The results show that differences in opinions on gender related issues between men and women are present on majority of questions analyzed, supporting views of the presence of traditional role division within a family. In addition to gender, education is another strong predictor of attitudes on gender roles to some extent offsetting gender differences. The presence of traditional views on gender roles may represent an obstacle to the enforcement of anti-discrimination legislation.
