The implementation of modern tools in the military system constitutes an important step in supporting the decision-making process. The impact of new GIS technologies is important for the assessment of the battlefield . According to assumptions, reconnaissance is a continuous process that crowns the assessment of the opponent and of the battlefield. Site assessment is an element of the command process where the conclusions of the task analysis includes an assessment of the potential opponent together with his modus operandi and an assessment of the environment . As part of the Information Preparation of the Battlefield (hereinafter referred to as IPB), the identification of threats and limitations has an impact on the identification of potential approach routes, traffic corridors and maneuvers in assigned areas and lanes . The end result is the determination of the maneuverability of forces and resources owned or those of the opponent. The information is to relate to the impact of the terrain components on the scope and nature of conducted activities, and the hydrometeorological conditions are to relate to the impact on the terrain, equipment, and people . As far as it regards the analysis of the environment and the opponent, it is possible to apply modern technologies to shorten the time for the analyses performed within the ongoing decision-making process.

The security environment is evolving dynamically and analysis of is the task of work security managers. To analyse the security environment we need different data. There are currently online databases published on the publicly accessible data warehouse, as well as web map servers, often in the form of eg. Underlying topographical data used for analysing. Another source of data is the Statistical Office and other authorities or police. Spatial analyses often provide a different view of the monitored phenomenon. Crime mapping is a valuable source of data for the analysis of the security environment. An advantage can be considered the identification of risk areas as well as the monitoring of changes in the extent and location of risk places. The second advantage is the ability to focus only on the analysis of selected offenses that can help, for example, in the monitoring of selected social groups. Crime mapping results are important sources of data for comprehensive analysis of the security environment at the city level. This is confirmed by the results of mapping crime in Kosice for the years 2010 to 2015 presented in this article.

In the modern world, the subject of spatial planning is being increasingly raised by residents of municipalities - mainly because of the lack of a direct influence on the process of local development and aesthetics of the surroundings. Today, the primary objective of spatial planning is not only to form a proper connection between function and space but also to balance public and private interests. Constantly developed geographic spatial information systems allow not only for easy navigation around the city, but more importantly for more advanced analyses, such as the recognition of the current trends in estate development, communication systems, changes in agricultural and forest areas. The main objective of the research is to define functional-spatial links determined by social-economic needs reflected in local plans and to verify the similarities between local plans, that were drawn up in three different periods (PRL, the transition period, and in accordance with nowadays applicable laws), how the changing economic, social goals and current needs of the city affected the continuation of the adopted solutions. The study shows that despite changes in the law and abandoning the idea of industrial city, in which the landscape is dominated by blast furnaces and mine shafts, the basic trend has been maintained and local plans prepared in subsequent years form a continuum, and despite the different scales of development are closely linked. At the same time it has been shown that modern GIS tools enable verification of the continuity of spatial policy of the municipality.

The author of the article presents the importance of using the principles of logistics management in practical activity of the water supply company. The main aim of the article is analyzing the principles of logistics management and evaluating their influence on the functioning of management of water supply company. The subject of research is “Sewage and Water Supply Company “WODNIK” Ltd in Jelenia Góra. To accomplish such a defined aim the following objectives have been expressed: (1) determining the characteristics of the principles of logistics management, (2) presenting the principles of logistics management in a section of concrete actions, processes and programs which support their implementation in the company S&WSC “Wodnik” Ltd, (3) defining the role of the principles of logistics management in the administration in S&WSC “Wodnik” Ltd. In the article, the thesis has been stated that using the principles of logistics management is a crucial factor, making the accomplishment of strategic, tactical and operative aims of the company easier. Data for the analysis were obtained from the company’s internal documents, observation and interviews with company management.

Geospatial Information Systems, usually associated with cartographic, are expanding their range of use. The Internet of Things combined with the open data formula increases the universality and availability of geographic data, which allows to increase the range of information resources held so far in the alphanumeric form. Thanks to the availability of GIS tools, it becomes possible to enrich the functionality of business management solutions through the increasing use of geospatial analyzes and GIS systems. The article is an attempt to show the possibility of using the geographical dimension for the needs of business analyzes.

Systemy Informacji Geoprzestrzennej (GIS), zazwyczaj kojarzone z zastosowaniami kartograficznymi, rozszerzają swój zakres wykorzystania. Internet Rzeczy w połączeniu z formułą otwartych danych zwiększa powszechność i dostępność danych geograficznych. Możliwe więc staje się zwiększenie zakresu zasobów informacyjnych utrzymywanych dotychczas w postaci znakowej. Narzędzia GIS wzbogacają funkcjonalność rozwiązań informatycznych w obszarze zarządzania poprzez coraz szersze wykorzystanie zarówno analiz geoprzestrzennych, jak również własności samych systemów GIS. Artykuł jest próbą pokazania możliwości wykorzystania wymiaru geograficznego dla potrzeb analiz biznesowych.
