In the first part of the article author presents the profile of dr Konrad Raiser the originator and founder of the Global Christian Forum and General Secretary of the World Council of Churches (1993-2003) as well. In the second part of the work there are related circumstances and wide context in which the idea of the Forum came into existence. Author approximates the confessional pluralism of whole spectrum of contributors in this ecumenical initiative. There are also presented principles on which the Forum is based and main lines of its activity. The supplement consists in the analysis of the course and achievements of the global gatherings of GChF. The third part of the work shows the development and work of the Polish Christian Forum, which is a local ecumenical initiative on the patterned of the global Forum. In the summary reader can find a short comparative characterisation of the activities of the global platform and its Polish equivalent.

W pierwszej części artykułu autor prezentuje sylwetkę pomysłodawcy i założyciela Globalnego Forum Chrześcijańskiego, a zarazem Sekretarza Generalnego Światowej Rady Kościołów (1993-2003), dr. Konrada Raisera. W drugiej części opracowania naświetlone zostały okoliczności powstania jak i szeroki kontekst pluralizmu konfesyjnego uczestników tej inicjatywy ekumenicznej. Autor ukazał główne zasady i metody jej działania, poddając analizie przebieg i dorobek światowych zgromadzeń Forum. Trzecia część pracy obrazuje proces powstania i działanie inicjatywy ekumenicznej o zasięgu lokalnym, jaką jest – powołane na wzór Globalnego Forum Chrześcijańskiego – Polskie Forum Chrześcijańskie. W podsumowaniu zawarto krótką charakterystykę porównawczą działań platformy globalnej i jej  polskiego odpowiednika.

The Global Christian Forum was established in 1998 as a platform for open dialogue between major Christian confessions to discuss pressing challenges facing Christians today. The Polish Christian Forum finds its identity as drawn from the idea of the Global Christian Forum (HYPERLINK „http://www.globalchristianforum.org” www.globalchristianforum.org). The forum defines itself not as any new organization, association or union of the churches, but as a meeting place, as a space to learn about each other, space of cooperation and common testimony, without formal membership of the entities interested in Forum’s initiatives. The article about the idea of the Polish Christian Forum presents the following issues: changes in the world religious landscape; the beginnings of the Global Christian Forum; a new space for new challenges; basic objectives of the Christian Forum; formation of the Polish Christian Forum; conclusion.

The article presents spiritual foundation of Global Christian Forum and it consists of the following parts: 1. Introduction; 2. Spiritual impulses; 3. Sharing faith on the way; 4. Discovering the way towards contemporary ecumenism; 3. The end. The author was a participant of Global Christian Forum in the capital of Albania Tirana (2015). Now he is carefully looking at the program of the next world consultation of Christian Forum which is to take place in Bogota (Colombia) in 2018. The subject of this meeting is a biblical thought “Let mutual love remain”. Christian unity which is experienced by participants of Christian Forum touches not just mind and will but also emotions. The desire for ecumenical unity has its affective side. Ecumenism is an act of Christian love for which Christ is praying in the Gospel (J 17:21). Ecumenical work does not consist only of doctrinal and theological discussions about hermeneutic differences among Christians. Ecumenism is also a stirring of heart under the influence of the Holy Spirit. In its deeper sense ecumenism is a spiritual “gift exchange” as it was defined by John Paul II in the encyclical letter “Ut unum sint”, 28.

Artykuł opisuje duchowe podwaliny Globalnego Forum Chrześcijańskiego i składa się z następujących części: 1. Wstęp; 2. Impulsy duchowe; 3. Współdzielenie wiary w drodze; 4. Odkrywanie drogi dla współczesnego ekumenizmu; 5. Zakończenie. Autor był uczestnikiem Konsultacji Globalnego Forum Chrześcijańskiego w stolicy Albanii Tiranie (2015). Obecnie z uwagą spogląda on na program kolejnej światowej konsultacji Forum Chrześcijańskiego jaka jest przygotowywana w Bogocie (Kolumbia) w 2018 roku. Tematem tego zgromadzenia jest biblijna myśl: „Niech trwa wzajemna miłość”. Chrześcijańska jedność jaka jest doświadczana przez uczestników Forum Chrześcijańskiego dotyczy nie tylko sfery rozumowej i wolitywnej ale również emocjonalno-afektywnej. Dążenia do jedności ekumenicznej posiadają również swoją stronę afektywną. Ekumenizm jest aktem miłości chrześcijańskiej o jaką Chrystus modli się w Ewangelii (J 17,21). Praca ekumeniczna polega nie tylko na dyskusjach doktrynalnych i teologicznych o różnicach hermeneutycznych wśród chrześcijan. Ekumenizm jest również poruszeniem serca pod wpływem działania Ducha Świętego. W głębszym rozumieniu ekumenizm jest duchową „wymianą darów” jak to ujął Jan Paweł II w encyklice „Ut unum sint”, 28.
