The article presents the theological interpretation of the phenomenon of spousal love in terms of examining its correlations with the call to holiness. This study belongs to the field of hagiological research aiming at developing a new concept that defines arguments in the Church’s strategy concerning the defence of every human life. The analysis concerns the statements and philosophical writings of Karol Wojtyła and then John Paul II on spousal love and the dependence of the person and his actions on the Truth and Good. The Christological-soteriological aspect of spousal love as conditioning the sanctification of the person has been indicated. The axiological conditions related to the Christological assumption have been termed as “the Splendour of Divinity,” identifying it with the space of the salvific influence on a person, sanctified by Christ’s spousal love and called to develop an ethos based on this love.

This study examines the way in which the Neoplatonic philosopher Proclus treats an episode of the dialectic communication between Socrates and Alcibiades in the Platonic dialogue Alcibiades I. More specifically, it refers to how the characteristics and the choices of two different types of lovers – the divinely inspired one and the vulgar one – are displayed in the aforementioned text. The characterization ‘divinely inspired lover’ befits a person who communicates in a pure way with his beloved one and attempts to teach the latter the objective values of the intellect. By contrast, the characterization of the ‘vulgar lover’ befits that individual that approaches another individual exclusively on the basis of his external beauty. The first type of lover is presented within the realms of the permanently qualitative, while the second as someone who satisfies solemnly his subjectivity and his instincts. Furthermore, it is interesting to note that Proclus argues that Socrates, whom he considers to represent the very definition of a divinely inspired lover, is inspired by divine powers and attempts to act towards to his fellows – in this instance to Alcibiades – in the way through which the divine providence is revealed.

This short paper provides a tentative formalization of Czeżowski's ideas about axiological concepts: Good and Evil are conceived of as modalities rather than as predicates. A natural account of the resulting “ethical logic” appears to be very close to standard deontic logic. If one does not resolve to become an antirealist regarding moral values, a possible way out is to become a revisionist about deontology: convert to intuitionism or some other kind of revisionism in deontic logic, and remain classical in ethical logic.

In his book Fiasco Stanisław Lem is asking what human nature is, what man aspires to, how he achieves it. What is Good and Evil? Who will win in the eternal fight between these two forces? Human beings conquer the outer space, but do they manage to subdue their inner space? Accustomed to thinking about themselves as the peak of the civilization progress and the quintessence of the Universe, are men capable of accepting meekly the unpleasant truth that in this Universe they were not given any exceptional and honourable role? Lem’s answers shatter the comfortable anthropocentric ideas of mankind and its place in the world. The author speaks directly of the difficulties of liberating our consciousness from the accumulated complexes, stereotypes and prejudice, from the intolerance towards everything different, foreign and incomprehensible. He states that even when they conquer time and space, men are helpless in the face of the dark forces hidden deep inside their souls, in the face of the unavoidable fall of Earth’s civilization.

The article presents a few remarks and reflections of Juliusz Słowacki, referring to the Spirit and people: Poles and Russians, based on his works "Genesis of the Spirit" and "King-Spirit". Słowacki, being impressed by the strength and creative possibilities of the Spirit, deeply believed in the future greatness of the Poles and the positive transformation of the Russians. I At such an optimistic assumption of other meaning from deliberations and debates about the future, taken in the Polish political life of the fortieth years of the 19th century issues are picking up the Polish, Russian nation, the mankind and world. With opinion of Słowacki, the manner of existing of these phenomena was similar - a Ghost conscripted temporarily for example into some material form is conditioning them, the same ideas of the change are ruling them. All events, both about the political, historical, as well as cosmic dimension, are subordinated to the activity of the Ghost ruling world.

XIX w., nabiera problematyka narodu polskiego, rosyjskiego, ludzkości i świata.

The article is combined of six chapters authored by these who voiced their experiences with social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemics in various contexts, but mostly centered on psychological, sociological, and ethical aspects. Authors, mostly psychologists and philosophers, were invited to describe their perspectives on the sense and practice of social distancing in times of pandemics. Their reflections seek to demonstrate various perspectives related to subjects’ novel self-experience, social situatedness, and their dealing with conventions and habits altered through the pandemics. As “the owl of Minerva takes its flight only when the shades of night are gathering” (Hegel), there is no conclusion in this article. It rather encourages other authors to reflect on the nearly global, still lasting phenomenon.
