The article addresses theoretical aspects of sustainable agriculture (the concept, goals) and presents spatial changes that occurred between 2004 and 2010 under the influence of CAP measures carried out in Poland. The financial instruments supporting the sustainable development of agriculture include packages of the EU agri-environmental programme: “Sustainable farming”, “Organic farming”, “Extensive permanent grasslands” and “Protection of soil and water”, as well as the measure “Support for agricultural activityin less-favoured areas” implemented under RDP 2004–2006 and RDP 2007–2013.

Artykuł dotyczy teoretycznych aspektów zrównoważonego rozwoju rolnictwa (pojęcie, cele) oraz przedstawia wyniki badań zmian przestrzennych, jakie nastąpiły w latach 2004–2010 w wyniku wpływu instrumentów WPR na zrównoważony rozwój rolnictwa w Polsce. Instrumentami finansowymi wspierającymi zrównoważony rozwój rolnictwa są pakietyprogramu rolnośrodowiskowego: „Rolnictwo zrównoważone”, „Rolnictwo ekologiczne”, „Ekstensywne trwałe użytki zielone”, „Ochrona gleb i wód” oraz działanie „Wsparcie działalności rolniczej na obszarach o niekorzystnych warunkach gospodarowania” realizowane w ramach PROW 2004–2006 i PROW 2007–2013.
