Zur Motivierung von Hodonymen in der Stadt Rzeszów (Reichshof) im Zweiten Weltkrieg

Straßennamen haben nicht nur eine topografisch-räumliche Orientierungsfunktion, sondern spiegeln auch die Geschichte wider und sind ein politisches und kulturelles Instrument. So wurden während der nationalsozialistischen Diktaturin Deutschland Straßen- und Platznamen geändert. Auch in den Städten des Generalgouvernements in Polen wurden im Zweiten Weltkrieg zahlreiche Straßen und Plätze umbenannt. Der Beitrag geht der Frage nach, wie Straßen und Plätze in Rzeszów (Reichshof) im Zweiten Weltkrieg genannt wurden. Dabei wird versucht zu ermitteln, welche Funktionen der neu eingesetzten urbanen Bezeichnungen sich beobachten lassen.

Street names not only have a topographical-spatial orientation function, but also reflect history and are a political and cultural instrument. At the time of the National Socialist dictatorship street and place names were changed in Germany. Also in the cities of the Generalgouvernement, in Poland many streets and squares were renamed during the Second World War. The article aims to present how the streets and squares in Rzeszów (Reichshof) were named in World War II. An attempt is made to determine which functions can be observed in ‘new’ urban designations.

Nazwy ulic służą nie tylko orientacji topograficzno-przestrzennej, ale także odzwierciedlają przemiany historyczne. Mogą być ponadto instrumentem polityki kulturalnej. Podczas dyktatury narodowosocjalistycznej nazwy miejscowości i ulic w Niemczech zostały zmienione. Również w miastach Generalnego Gubernatorstwa, w okupowanej Polsce wiele ulic i placów zostało przemianowanych. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie zmian nazw ulic w Rzeszowie (Reichshof) podczas II wojny światowej. Podjęto także próbę ustalenia, jakie funkcje zmienionych nazw można zaobserwować.

Street designations do not enable only the topographical-spatial orientation, but they are also the carriers of the political and cultural contents. The paper is about the results of the trends’ analysis in the change of the names of streets in the chosen places of the Busko County during the Second World War. The showed examples are sorted on account of their function. It may be expected that the reason for these steps was primarily to express the Nazi power and ideology in the names of the streets, as well as to remove from the public and social space the designations which clashed with the Nazi politics and culture. But in the analysis it is exposed that the German converted the Polish hodonyms without changing their names or their functions. In this way it can be seen, that the German people accepted the Polish language world picture and used it in their own language during their presence in the occupied areas of Poland.

Straßennamenschilder besitzen nicht nur die Orientierungs- und Hinweisefunktion, sondern sind auch Träger von Inhalten aus dem Bereich der Politik und Kultur. Es werden in dem Beitrag die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung der Straßenumbenennungsmotivierung in ausgewählten Ortschaften der ehemaligen Kreisstadt Busko während des Zweiten Weltkriegs präsentiert, wobei die Belege im Hinblick auf die Funktion des Hodonyms sortiert wurden. Es wäre zwar zu erwarten, dass die nationalsozialistische Macht und Ideologie in den besetzten Gebieten zum Ausdruck gebracht und die im Widerspruch zur NS-Politik und Kultur stehenden Hodonyme aus dem öffentlichen Raum entfernt werden sollten, doch aus der Erforschung des Sprachmaterials geht eindeutig hervor, dass die Deutschen die polnischen Straßenbezeichnungen entweder unverändert annahmen oder sie nur eindeutschten, ohne deren Funktionen zu verändern. Dadurch wird sichtbar, dass das polnische sprachliche Weltbild auch im Bewusstsein einer anderen Sprachgemeinschaft reibungslos funktionieren konnte.

Nazwy ulic nie są jedynie wyrazami posiadającymi funkcję orientacyjną i wskazującą, lecz również są często nośnikami treści z obszaru polityki i kultury. W artykule prezentowane są wyniki analizy motywacji przemianowywania ulic w wybranych miejscowościach niegdysiejszego nazistowskiego powiatu buskiego podczas II wojny światowej, a prezentowane przykłady zostały pogrupowane ze względu na funkcję nazwy ulicy. Wprawdzie można było oczekiwać, iż powodem takich kroków ze strony władz okupacyjnych była chęć zarówno wyrażenia swojej siły i ideologii na okupowanych terenach, jak również usunięcia takich nazw ulic i placów z przestrzeni publicznej oraz społecznej, które stały w sprzeczności z polityką i kulturą narodowego socjalizmu podczas II wojny światowej. Z analizy wynika jednak jednoznacznie, iż Niemcy albo bez zmian przejęli polski hodonim, albo tylko go zniemczyli nie zmieniając jego funkcji. Ukazuje to, że polski językowy obraz świata mógł bez przeszkód funkcjonować również w świadomości innej społeczności językowej.
