Innovation activity of the regional industrial system depends on the size structure of active enterprises. Research carried out in Polish regions suggest that this condition has variable significance depending on the level of technological development of the industrial system.

The article shows results of the survey carried out among the top managers of enterprises functioning in the former European Union on the 'Innovation in 2003': Experiences and Priorities of European Managers'. In particular the author concentrated on interpretating answers to the question concerning new approaches to innovation management which would require special attention of enterprise. The answers received were considered as the measure of the interest of the managers in the development of the innovation activity. Level of this measure is presented for the European Union as a whole, for each of its 15 Member States and for enterprises analysed in regard to their sector of activity, size, age and share of export in their turnover.

Paper analyses the differences between early stage immigrant and native entrepreneurs regarding growth determinants and growth aspirations, across southeast (SeECs) and north and west (NwECs) European countries as well as the associations between their growth determinants and growth aspirations. The study used data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Adult Population Survey. Results 1) significant differences between growth aspirations of immigrant and native early stage entrepreneurs were found only in the group from north and west European countries; 2) growth determinants stimulate early stage entrepreneurs’ growth aspirations in both regions; 3) significant differences between growth determinants of immigrant and native early stage entrepreneurs were found only in the group from north and west European countries. For this region, it was confirmed that immigrants’ early stage entrepreneurs are using new technologies and introduce new products/services as well as are internationally oriented to a significantly greater extent than native early-stage entrepreneurs.

The analysis of the notion “innovation activity of a complementary education institution as a pedagogic phenomenon” is represented in the article. On the basis of the comparative multi aspect analysis of the notions “innovation”, “novelty”, “innovation activity“, “innovation process”, “complementary education” the notion “innovation activity of a complementary education institution” is defined and its main characteristic features are revealed. The paper characterizes the present state of complementary education institution teachers’ innovation activity. The characteristic features of complementary education institution teachers without pedagogical education are presented. The innovation process in complementary education institutions is also disclosed. Scope of problems in complementary education institutions for children is viewed.

This paper analyzes the problems of formation and use of labour potential of the company. Analysis of human resources of any company is the assessment of provision of the company and its divisions by personnel as well as labour movement assessment. The main part of this process is the analysis of composition and structure of personnel, security of enterprise workers, administrative management, educational background, qualifications, professional qualifications, as well as changes in company’s personnel. The paper presents the benefits of using a valuation coefficient technique for assessing employment potential of the company, which in essence is a hybrid of cost and benefit approaches to assessment.
