The present paper investigates the interpretation of the archaic Latin inscriptions on the fragments of the clay barrel found recently in Satricum. During the analysis the author confutes the theory proposed by G. Colonna, according to which the text of fragment A is symposiastic. Instead, he suggests that this inscription is a text identifying the owner of the object.
