W artykule poruszono temat rysunków autorskich w książkach literackich adresowanych głównie do dzieci i młodzieży na polskim rynku wydawniczym. Zwrócono uwagę na brak metodologicznych podstaw badawczych w odniesieniu do tak sformułowanego zagadnienia. Poddano analizie książki takich autorów, jak Małgorzata Musierowicz, Tove Jansson, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Maciej Wojtyszko, Rafał Kosik, Zbigniew Lengren, Katarzyna Kotowska, Emilia Kiereś, Cornelia Funke, Walter Moers oraz Marbella Atabe. Podkreślono, że ilustracja autorska, mimo swoich uwidocznionych w artykule zalet, powinna również uwzględniać wymogi artystyczne i psychologiczne sztuki ilustratorskiej. Fenomen ilustracji autorskiej dotyczy niewielu publikacji dostępnych na polskim rynku wydawniczym.

The article discusses the problem of authorial illustrations in literary books intended mainly for children and young people on the Polish publishing market. Attention was payed to the lack of methodological research bases in reference to a problem which is formulated in such a manner. The works of such authors as Małgorzata Musierowicz, Tove Jansson, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Maciej Wojtyszko, Rafał Kosik, Zbigniew Lengren, Katarzyna Kotowska, Emilia Kiereś, Cornelia Funke, Walter Moers and Marbella Atabe were analysed. It was emphasised that authorial illustrations, despite their strong points that were demonstrated in the article, should also take the artistic and psychological requirements of illustration art into account. The phenomenon of authorial illustration refers to the few publications which are available on the Polish publishing market.
