One of the characteristics of Friederike Mayröcker’s lyrical poetry is the frequent occurrence of auto-reflexive and metapoetical moments. Hence, the paper focuses upon a lyrical text, which enacts and simultaneously reflects the process of becoming of a poem. In „»auf der Suche nach der verlorenen Stille« (John Cage)“ Mayröcker adopts John Cage‘s concept of silence (i.e. there is no absolute silence) by integrating the presence of noise and everyday sounds into the ‘silence’ of her poetical world. Her poem concerns both the longing for silence as the premise for creative writing and the transformation of silence into words. Moreover, it equally absorbs the inspiring presence of real and imagined acoustic perceptions as well as that of outer and inner voices. Within the wide-open ears of the lyrical instance, fragments of reality mutate to moments of creative ecstasy. The poem ends, after a comma, with the white ‘silence’ of the blank sheet, engulfed in the vastness of an imagined echo.

The intensive support verbs selected by the predicative nouns of the class in Old French and Old Spanish are presented and analyzed in this paper. The lexically constrained combinations between these verbs and nouns are described, and the basic metaphors that govern the selection of intensive structures are identified. We observe that a synchronic perspective would prefer a lexical selection-based description of collocations, whereas a diachronic perspective would prefer the use of conceptual metaphors. We highlight certain similarities between the two languages studied, but also some differences.

Dans cet article, nous présentons et analysons les verbes supports intensifs appliqués aux principaux noms prédicatifs de la classe en ancien français et en ancien espagnol. Nous décrivons cette combinatoire lexicale restreinte et nous identifions les métaphores de base qui orientent la sélection des formules intensives. Nous observons qu’un point de vue synchronique tendrait à privilégier une description des collocations axée sur la sélection lexicale, tandis que la perspective diachronique favoriserait la prise en compte des métaphores conceptuelles. Nous signalons les coïncidences entre les deux langues étudiées, mais nous relevons, également, quelques spécificités de l’une et de l’autre.
