Artykuł przedstawia najnowszy słownik ogólny „Wielki słownik języka polskiego PAN”, który jako dzieło prymarnie elektroniczne wprowadza rozwiązania wyróżniające go zarówno na tle słowników papierowych, jak i poddanych cyfryzacji − te ostatnie zwykły bowiem zachowywać ograniczenia właściwe tekstom drukowanym. Uwzględniając potrzeby użytkowników, w WSJP wprowadzono hierarchizację struktury haseł, system odsyłaczy i powiązań między hasłami oraz zaawansowane narzędzia wyszukiwania. „Przyjazny” jest też sposób podawania informacji fleksyjnej, gdyż w hasłach zostały umieszczone pełne paradygmaty wszystkich odmiennych części mowy. W zakończeniu artykułu rozważa się możliwości rozwoju WSJP jako słownika elektronicznego w przyszłości.

The paper briefly presents the newest general dictionary, the "Polish Academy of Sciences Great Dictionary of Polish" (Wielki słownik języka polskiego PAN — WSJP) which, being primarily an electronic resource, introduces a series of solutions which set it apart from both paper and digitized editions, as the latter tend to share the limitations of their printed originals. Addressing the needs of the users, WSJP features a hierarchical structure of the elements of the entries, a system of cross-references and links between the entries and advanced search tools. Also the grammatical information is presented in a friendly way as full inflectional paradigms of all declinable parts of speech are given inside entries. The article concludes with a consideration of the possibilities of future development of electronic WSJP.

The aim of this article is to show German-Polish and Polish-German specialized Internet dictionaries as an useful tool for translators. The paper consists of an introduction, a theoretical part, empirical part, and conclusions. In the theoretical part are shown selected issues of translations studies and lexicography, in particular concerning typology of dictionaries, the process of dictionary making, and dictionary structure. All these issues are important for further analysis. The subject of the analysis is German-Polish and Polish-German Internet dictionaries as one of modern tools available for the translator beside text corpora, data base or different kinds of tools for computer aided translation. Translators have specific needs and expectations toward dictionaries. Some of the online dictionaries investigated are not e-dictionaries par excellence, but should be rather regarded as printed dictionaries made available on an electronic platform. Nevertheless, there are also dictionaries developed exactly for Internet use. Are their macroand microstructures well-constructed and can they fulfill the specific needs of the translator?
