The article is concentrated around the thesis claiming that the political, understood as a domain independent from the others factors (such as social, economic, biopolitical, etc.) determining life, requires some kind of a negative mediation. Nevertheless, the most important philosophers for the paper try to go rather beyond the modern (Hegelian) limitation of the negativity. In the first part, the thesis is tested against the theorists connected with the Lacanian Left, so the philosophical proposition of E. Laclau and Ch. Mouffe (the „antagonism” and the „constitutive lack”) is discussed as well as J. Rancière’s concept of the „disagreement”. However, the main attention is attracted first and foremost to the contemporary Italian philosophy starting with the debate between M. Cacciari and A. Negri in the 60s. Then the role of the negative within the thought of R. Esposito is analyzed in close relation to his concept of the community (and the forces immunized us from it), whereas in the case of the philosophical projects of P. Virno and G. Agamben, it is rather the language (its dispositive) that introduces the negative into the human life. Finally the negativity seems to constitute a particular kind of human life’s potentiality.

Tekst ten jest recenzją tomu pod redakcją Dario Gentiliego i Elettry Stimilli pt. Różnice włoskie. Polityka i filozofia: mapy i przekroczenia granic. Dyskutuje on zasadność mówienia o “Italian Theory” lub “myśli włoskiej” oraz rekonstruuje najważniejsze cechy charakterystyczny współczesnej włoskiej filozofii politycznej w opariu o recenzowany tom oraz inne publikacje m.in. Roberta Esposito. Pod koniec recenzji autor formułuje także krytyczne uwagi pod adresem roli, jaką w pismach wielu włoskich filozofów odgrywa filozofia francuska, zwłaszcza dekonstrukcja Jacques’a Derridy.

A review of the volume edited by Dario Gentili and Elettra Stimilli Differenceze italiane. Politica e filosofia: mappe e sconfinamenti. It explores the validity of speaking about “Italian Theory” or “Italian Thought” and reconstructs the main characteristics of contemporary Italian political philosophy based the the reviewed volume and other publications by i.a. Roberto Esposito. In the end the author formulates critical remarks about the role the French philosophy, especially Derrida’s deconstruction, assumes in works by some Italian philosophers.

In this paper is illustrated a debate about the form of State and democracy between N.Bobbio, some Italian Marxist philosophers and intellectuals. The debate took place in 1970s, that is in a period of intense philosophical confrontation, hosted by cultural reviews like “Mondoperaio” and marked by a strong ideological opposition linked to the world bipolar system. The paper presents the general lines of that debate, which highlighted the inadequacies of the Marxist doctrine of State, consistently determining the end of any hegemonic ambitions in the Italian culture of those intellectuals linked to international communism.

W artykule przedstawiono debatę o kształcie państwa i demokracji, która toczyła się pomiędzy N. Bobbio i niektórymi marksistowskimi filozofami włoskimi w latach siedemdziesiątych XX wieku. Okres ten cechuje intensywna konfrontacja filozoficznа we Włoszech związana z sytuacją polityczną na świecie. Debata miała miejsce na łamach czasopisma „Mondoperaio”. W artykule zostały zilustrowane podstawowe tezy owej debaty, które podkreślają niedostatki marksistowskiej doktryny o państwie, konsekwentnie wyznaczając koniec wszelkich hegemonicznych ambicji włoskich intelektualistów związanych z międzynarodowym komunizmem.

Аннотация: В этой статье представлено дискуссии о форме государства и демократии, в том числе между Н. Боббио и некоторыми марксистскими философами итальянскими, в 70-е гг. XX века. Этот период характеризует усиленная философская конфронтация связанная с политической обстановкой в мире. Дискуссии имели место посредством статей в журнале „Mondoperaio”. В нынешней статьи указано основные тезисы этих дискуссий, которые подчеркивают недостатки марксистской доктрины о государстве, последовательно отмечая конец всех гегемонистских амбиций итальянских интеллектуалов, связанных с международным коммунизмом.
