In the context of Derrida’s writings on literature, this article reflects on the meaning and secret which he proposes to characterize literature. It also examines modifications of several concepts associated with literature (structure, genre, interpretation) in order to analyse the relationship between them and Derridean concepts related to the issue of literature/philosophy. According to Derrida, literature gives the right to say everything (anything) and is associated with a secret that is compatible only with the democracy to come. These concepts are then applied to a text by the postcolonial writer Kamel Daoud.
