This article is dedicated to Tadeusz Matuszewicz (1765–1819), known for being Minister of Income and Treasury in the Duchy of Warsaw. This article will describe the beginnings of his career. The most imnportant experience of Matuszewicz in this time was the activity at the Four-Year Sejm. Then he established himself as ambitious and energetic politician and good speaker. Unfortunately, the third partition Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth caused interruption of his career. He returned to political activity in 1809 which resulted in the position of State Counsellor in Gouverement of the Duchy of Warsaw. This article is also a contribution to further research on career of Tadeusz Matusewicz.
