The General Confederation of the Kingdom of Poland has been established during the extraordinary assembly of the Duchy of Warsaw parliament on the 28th of June 1812. It operated until the 30th of April 1813, when it suspended its activity. The presented article approaches the issue of the society’s expectations towards the activity of a confederated parliament. The analyzed reactions on this activity will be limited to the territory of the Duchy of Warsaw and Lithuania, where on the 1st of July 1812 the Provisional Government Commission of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania has been appointed. With the establishment of the Confederation, which announced the creation of the Kingdom of Poland, the Polish society hoped for the restoration of the Polish Republic within its historical borders. It is important to demonstrate whether all social and political circles shared this enthusiasm, and more importantly, what were the expectations and opinions regarding the activity of the General Confederation of the Kingdom of Poland, by analyzing the available historical sources.
