In the Kingdom of Poland governmental commissions constituted the executive. These were: Government Commission for Religion and Public Education, Government Commission of Justice, Government Commission of Internal Affairs and the Police, the Government Commission of War and Government Commission of Income and Treasury. Officials employed in these commissions had to meet certain rules of eligibility and recruitment. These included: having all civil rights, proper age, sex, certificate of graduation the one of specified schools and finished apprenticeship, opinion from the place of residence. These rules were govern by the law, ie. the Constitution of 1815, tsarist decree, order of the governor and the ordinances and regulations of the competent authorities of the Polish Kingdom. The article presents the legal status of civil servants, their rights and obligations. Moreover, it tackles briefly the other issues, such as, social background of the officials, their age, place of residence, education, perception of others, including superiors. The study was based on the preserved lists of public servants of government commission.

W Królestwie Polskim władzę wykonawczą stanowiły komisje rządowe. Były to: Komisja Rządowa Wyznań Religijnych i Oświecenia Publicznego, Komisja Rządowa Sprawiedliwości, Komisja Rządowa Spraw Wewnętrznych i Policji, Komisja Rządowa Wojny i Komisja Rządowa Przychodów i Skarbu. Zatrudniani w nich urzędnicy musieli sprostać określonym zasadom kwalifikacji i rekrutacji. Należały do nich: posiadanie prawa obywatelstwa, odpowiedni wiek, płeć, zaświadczenie ukończenia określonej szkoły, odbytej aplikacji, opinia z miejsca zamieszkania. Zasady te regulowały akty prawne, tj. Konstytucja z 1815 r., ukazy cesarskie, postanowienia namiestnika oraz zarządzenia i regulaminy właściwych władz Królestwa Polskiego. W artykule przedstawiono status prawny urzędników, ich prawa i obowiązki. Ponadto zasygnalizowano takie zagadnienia, jak pochodzenie społeczne urzędników, ich wiek, miejsce zamieszkania, wykształcenie, postrzeganie przez innych, w tym przez przełożonych. Badania oparto na podstawie zachowanych wykazów stanu służby urzędników komisji rządowych.
