This article is the edited version of a contribution to a Hungarian conference on professional languages. The author is not a linguist by profession, but was the founding editor of a Hungarian electronic journal, has gathered the word-set of informatics for the Hungarian-English and English-Hungarian dictionaries and participated in terminology standardization. His principles related to the transfer of professional terminology are the following: to translate the words if it is possible with beauty, else forming a proper Hungarian word. When this process is unsuccessful, the original (English) word has to be written according to the Hungarian pronunciation. The recent practical process is illustrated with a number of examples together with other linguistic effects. Several conclusions are drawn.

The aim of this article is to present the wide scope of application of ludic techniques in foreign language teaching, in particular in the teaching of languages for specific purposes (LSP). The history of ludic techniques is depicted, games, simulations and WebQuest are discussed and the concept of LSP is described. Selected ludic techniques are then shown in reference to this concept and examples of their use during an LSP class are given. A rationale for the glottodidactic value of these techniques is also provided.
