The problem of scientificality and philosophical foundations of the theories of the origin of life has been recently vividly discussed (especially in The Journal of Theoretical Biology). It appeares that the opinion, that a mature 'science' can and should be philosophy-free (expressed by professional philosophers of positivistic orientation) is sometimes also shared by scientists themselves. It is argued, that the lack of philosophical selfconsciousness by some origin-of-life researchers may cause really caricatural presentation of theoretical results of this branch of science (as in case of the book of by Noam Lahav, 1999)
