Both modern logistics and philosophy of Kaizen and Lean Management have common roots - Toyota Production System. Despite the common roots of their evolution during the last 60th year ran slightly different ways. Logistics has focused primarily on the business environment, Lean Management and Kazien on optimizing flows within company. Research, presented in this article, are the tools used to diagnose Kazien and Lean Management in Polish enterprises and the answer to the question whether the use of these tools would improve the functioning of logistics in the company.

Obecnie w wielu przedsiębiorstwach postrzega się Lean Logistics jako nową dziedzinę logistyki, wdrażaną w celu bardziej skutecznej redukcji kosztów. W rzeczywistości etiologia Lean Management, jak i nowoczesnej logistyki jest tożsama. Wywodzą się one z opracowanych w latach 50. przez K. Toyodę i T. Ohno założeń TPS (Toyota Production System), który ewoluował następnie do postaci Kaizen. Zarówno TPS, jak i Kaizen dotyczą organizacji zarządzania przepływem materiałów oraz logistyki i stanowią nie tylko spójną filozofię, lecz również zespół technik optymalizujących ten przepływ.
