The paper focuses on the analysis of the Jesuit annual reports from the House of the Third Probation in Telč written between the years 1656 and 1660. It is primarily concerned with the modifications of the text that emerged in several variants in an attempt to reveal the nature of the differences between the versions of this specific genre of Jesuit writing. The authors study the relations between the versions, the sequence in which they could be created and try to indicate the criteria that might have applied and caused the modifications. The primary method used is the collation and textual analysis of the original manuscripts kept in the National Library of the Czech Republic, Austrian National Library, and Roman Archives of the Society of Jesus. In the period under consideration, both the character of the literae annuae from Telč and the way in which they were subsequently used differed. The mechanism influencing their creation and use reveals traces of deeper reflection. That clearly affected the process of writing of the originals as well as their further compilation and/or integration into convolute volumes read throughout the Bohemian Jesuit Province.
