The article takes into consideration the encyclical letter of pope Francis Lumen fidei. The author discusses the description of the “faith” as found in the given pastoral letter. The original is not so much the matter of faith as such, but the description of faith from the biblical, patristical and existential point of view. That is why the role of the story in both receiving and in the transmission of the faith has been underlined, as well as the meaning of faith for the building of fraternal community of people of good will. What is quite original is the very deep connection between faith and love as well as the approach to the faith from the multidimensional, integrated perspectives of hearing, seeing and touching. One can find also in the pastoral letter Lumen fidei the invitation to discover the sings of God in one’s daily life.

Pope Francis in his encyclical reminded us that Lumen fidei contains abundant material truth about the need of the development of a comprehensive religious awareness based on man’s inborn senses. Simultaneously he pointed at their grounding and fulfillment in a person’s practical choices, particularly those pertaining to confidence in and faithfulness to God. Here actual exercise of the attributes of listening and seeing opens the prospect of the perception of something more besides the materially discernible object. This creates the possibility of bringing closer to view the supernatural reality, and at the same time frees a person from a unilateral attachment to transient values. Finally, the gift of listening and seeing performs the only and unique function of actively enriching the inner life of the individual human with the presence and action of God.

Kształtowanie sumienia wiernych w formacie eklezjalnym jest zgodne z teandryczną i zarazem misyjną naturą Kościoła. Zagadnienie jest ukazane na bazie trzech dokumentów papieskich: Veritatis splendor, Caritas in veritate, Lumen fidei. Źródła te wyjaśniają związki między absolutną Prawdą, Dobrem i Miłością jako transcendentaliami warunkującymi indywidualny proces zbawienia człowieka.

The fundamental outlook for the concept of faith is determined by the truth about Christ – the Son of God who became a man. Faith is always a reference to the person of Christ and to His work of salvation. For Christians, Jesus Christ is the Revealer who reveals man to himself and shows him he meaning of his life. The figure of Jesus Christ makes it possible for the believers of all times to continue examining His infinite existential and moral depth.Therefore, the aim of this publication is to raise awareness of the need to indicate the consequences which induce the figure of Christ and His work of salvation in men. The point is the reference of the Christological reflection to our everyday life in attempt to answer the question of who Jesus Christ is to our faith. The following study is based on the encyclical Lumen fidei by the Pope Francis.

Zasadniczą perspektywę dla pojmowania wiary wyznacza prawda o Chrystusie – Synu Bożym, który stał się człowiekiem. Wiara jest zawsze odniesieniem do osoby Chrystusa i do Jego dzieła zbawienia. Dla chrześcijan Jezus Chrystus jest Objawicielem, który objawia człowieka samemu sobie i ukazuje mu sens jego życia. Postać Jezusa Chrystusa sprawia, że wierzący wszystkich czasów mogą wciąż doskonalej wnikać w Jego nieskończoną głębię egzystencjalną i moralną.Celem publikacji jest uświadomienie potrzeby wskazania konsekwencji, które wywołują w człowieku postać Chrystusa i Jego dzieło zbawienia. Chodzi zatem o odniesienie prowadzonej refleksji chrystologicznej do naszego życia, aby znaleźć odpowiedź na pytanie, kim jest Jezus Chrystus dla naszej wiary. Punktem odniesienia niniejszego studium jest encyklika Lumen fidei papieża Franciszka.

The article presents the issue of ecclesial conscience as a personal space in which a believer man evaluates his own ecclesiological activity. The formation of the faithful conscience in an ecclesial format is in line with theandric and at the same time missionary nature of the Church. The issue is shown based on three papal documents: Veritatis splendor, Caritas in veritate, Lumen fidei. These sources explain the relationship between absolute Truth, Goodness and Love as transcendentals conditioning the individual process of human salvation.

Artykuł poświęcony jest nauce papieża Franciszka o misyjności Kościoła. Autor podkreśla, że chociaż Franciszek nie ogłosił dotąd żadnego dokumentu w całości poświęconego temu zagadnieniu, w encyklice Lumen fidei, adhortacji Evangelii gaudium oraz w kilku pomniejszych wypowiedziach zawarł on niezwykle istotne uwagi na temat misji Kościoła. Najważniejszym twierdzeniem Franciszka jest myśl o naturalności misyjności chrześcijaństwa, którego istotą jest wspólnota i wychodzenie do innych, a tym samym poszerzanie wspólnotowości. Kwestie te podnoszone są zwłaszcza w adhortacji Evangelii gaudium. Franciszek podkreśla tam, że będąc uczniami Chrystusa, głosimy miłość - jesteśmy zatem misjonarzami. Dlatego Kościół, przełamując ograniczenia instytucjonalne, powinien znaleźć się w stanie permanentnej misji nakierowanej i na tych, którzy jeszcze Chrystusa nie poznali, i na tych, którzy go zagubili. Zadanie i pytanie stawiane Kościołowi przez Franciszka brzmi: jakie kroki należałoby podjąć, aby Ewangelię uczynić dla współczesnego świata bardziej widoczną? Wśród papieskich odpowiedzi pojawia się sugestia, aby Dobrą Nowinę głosić zawsze z entuzjazmem i radością, pokazując tym samym światu jej niezwykłość.

Pope Francis' encyclical letter Lumen fidei and apostolic adhortation Evangelii gaudium both contain very important remarks about the missionary nature of the Catholic Church. Among them is the pope's assertion that mission belongs to Christianity's very nature: communities of Christians grow through reaching out to others. Evangelii gaudium teaches that followers of Christ must proclaim love, therefore they must be missionaries. The Church should overcome her institutional limitations and become constantly engaged in mission; mission not only to those who do not yet know Christ, but also those who have somehow relaxed their attachment to Him. Pope Francis asks the whole community of believers to proclaim the Good News with enthusiasm and joy and make it more visible in the modern world.
