Nároky Karla z Lichtenštejna na pardubické panství

100%
EN
This study deals with a case from the period 1608–1614, namely with Karl of Liechtenstein’s attempts to gain Pardubice estate. This case seems to be narrowly delimited, yet in fact it is a concentration of numerous general historical phenomena such as the period ambitions of the Liechtenstein Family and its history, the regional history of Pardubice region as a former estate of the Pernsteins and a chamber estate, as well as the general historical-political process commonly known as the “royal brotherly dispute”. An important factor that significantly influenced the course of negotiations was the figure of Martin Fruwein of Podolí. He played several roles in the negotiations representing both parties involved. The actual entitlement of Karl of Liechtenstein to Pardubice came to exist during Mathias’ campaign against Rudolf II which was terminated by the peace treaty of Libeň. However, following the treaty, this transaction remained unfinished for a long time due to various reasons. The negotiations were also delayed by Mathias’ unwillingness to confirm the sale. The final stages of negotiations were mainly an attempt to find a mutually beneficial compromise that would avert an imminent danger of an unwanted lawsuit.
