The novel Memoirs of Hadrian by Marguerite Yourcenar is a flexible and open work that has been translated into sixteen languages to date and also establishes a true dialogue between different media. In Romanian, it has only one translation, that of Mihai Gramatopol, a historian, essayist, art historian, aesthete, and translator, published in 1983 by Cartea Românească publishing house, but which has been reissued several times by Humanitas editions in 1994, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2015, and 2021. The translation is also available in ebook format by Humanitas in 2015 and audiobook format by Humanitas in 2021, with the voice of Răzvan Vasilescu, a Romanian actor of film, theater, and television. As one of the great works of world literature, it has contemporary resonances and continues to stimulate the interest and imagination of directors, filmmakers, musicians, and others who, each in their turn, try to adapt it or find new meanings in their respective art forms. Through their collaboration, the creative process of the work continues, resulting in a common, united, and collective work.
