Okoliczność historycznego jubileuszu Misyjnego Seminarium Duchownego Księży Werbistów w Pieniężnie stwarza okazję do przypomnienia chrześcijańskiego powołania i realizacji podjętych zadań. Specyfika charyzmatu ewangelizacyjnego oraz konfesyjna różnorodność, otaczająca tę wspólnotę, uzasadniają potrzebę ukazania możliwej koegzystencji jedności i różnorodności. Autor sygnalizuje na szerokim tle historycznym problematykę napięć społecznych, konfesyjnych, a także doktrynalnych, pojawiających się we wzajemnych relacjach chrześcijan, a ponadto ukazuje, że ekumenizm – zanim stał się zaaprobowaną metodą budowania pojednania – wcześniej był powołaniem jednostek, otwartych na odważne i zróżnicowane myślenie.

The historic jubilee of the Missionary Seminary in Pieniężno creates an excuse to recall the Christian vocation and fulfil the undertaken tasks. The specificity of the evangelizing charism and the confessional diversity surrounding this community justify the need to show the possible coexistence of unity and diversity. The author indicates the problems of social, confessional and doctrinal tensions in mutual relations between Christians on a broad historical background and shows that before ecumenism became an approved method of building reconciliation, it was previously a vocation of individuals open to bold and diversified thinking.

Począwszy od 2001 roku z inicjatywy badaczy reprezentujących środowisko Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego oraz Misyjnego Seminarium Duchownego Księży Werbistów w Pieniężnie corocznie odbywają się debaty naukowe pod wspólnym hasłem Sacrum i profanum we współczesnym świecie. Ich tematyka dotyczy ważnych problemów współczesnego świata – począwszy od wyzwań i zagrożeń dla pokoju, bezpieczeństwa oraz stabilności w poszczególnych regionach, poprzez problemy globalne, związane z istotą i ewolucją współczesnego ładu światowego, aż po zagadnienia odnoszące się do aksjologicznych i epistemologicznych aspektów funkcjonowania państw i społeczeństw w zmieniającym się świecie. Spotkania te stały się swego rodzaju instytucją, skupiając spore grono badaczy z różnych ośrodków akademickich, a także przykładem inspirującej współpracy naukowców, reprezentujących odmienne dyscypliny badawcze, różne podejścia metodologiczne oraz świeckie i kościelne środowiska akademickie.

Since 2001, on the initiative of researchers representing the environment of the University of Warsaw and the Theological Seminary in Pieniężno, annual scientific debates are held under the motto “Sacred and profane in the modern world”. Their subject matter concerned important problems of the modern world ranging from challenges and threats to peace, security and stability in individual regions through global problems related to the essence and evolution of the contemporary world order to issues relating to the axiological and epistemological aspects of the functioning of states and societies in a changing world. These meetings have become a kind of institution bringing together a large group of researchers from various academic centres and an example of inspiring cooperation of scientists representing different research disciplines, different methodological approaches as well as secular and ecclesiastical academic environments.
