The number of sites where early Greek Linear B inscriptions have been discovered has increased from 5–6 places in 1952 to 23 in 2012, i.e. 6 on the island of Crete, 7 in the Peloponnese, 6 in Central Greece, 2 in Thessaly, 1 in Asia Minor, and 1 on the Phoenician coast.
