The author of the study is a historian focusing mostly on medieval but also modern history of Slovakia. In the submitted scientific paper, he provides findings as well as opinions from the research of the life of the nobleman Pongrác of Svätý Mikuláš. The author gathered and studied dozens of direct and indirect documents of the period, in particular papers, letters, and chronicles of the 15th century. He described the private life of this man, his public activity as the soldier and politician in the political and power struggles in the Hungarian Kingdom of the last third of the 15th century, the ownership of inherited and acquired land property as well as the use of the occupied land, in total about 20 castle estates, mainly in the Western Slovakia. Thereby, he became a member of the small group of the moguls of the period, with his public activities being described with controversy by his contemporaries as well as historians. The author considers him to be the most famous Slovak soldier and politician of the 15th century Hungarian Kingdom.
