Artykuł jest polemiką wybitnej znawczyni dzieła Zofii Nałkowskiej i edytorki jej "Dzienników" z poświęconym pisarce tomem zbiorowym, pretendującym do krytyki feministycznej. Większość autorek tego tomu tropi „ograniczenia” ideologiczne wielkiej pisarki, ikony feminizmu polskiego, sięgając niestety po skompromitowane zasady socrealizmu i po wzory popkultury, zwłaszcza internetowej mowy nienawiści (hate), czyli posługując się manipulacją i pomówieniami, w niezgodzie z tekstem Nałkowskiej. Ekstremalnym przykładem są dwa szkice kłamliwie imputujące autorce "Medalionów" antysemityzm. Tom, nie poddany redakcji wydawniczej, pełen jest błędów i pomyłek, także merytorycznych.

The article is a polemics by an outstanding expert in Nałkowska’s work and editor of her "Dzienniki" ("Diaries") with a collective volume devoted to the writer which aspires to feminist criticism. Majority of the volume’s contributors trace the ideological “limitations” of the great writer, an icon of Polish feminism, unfortunately reaching for disgraced rules of socialist realism and pop-cultural patterns, especially the Internet hate speech, thus resorting to manipulation and libel at variance with Nałkowska’s work. Extreme examples of it are two sketches falsely imputing Nałkowska’s anti-Semitism. The volume, devoid of editorial proofreading, contains numerous mistakes and errors, including content matter ones.

The article describes the experience of World War I and the period just after the war (1914–1918) written in the diary of Zofia Nałkowska, an outstanding Polish novelist (1896–1954). For Nałkowska, World War I was very strong sensual experience (new sounds and images that invade privacy). At the same time, the war reveals the truth about human life, being full of cruelty. The war is also a period of collective behaviour, including collective patriotic behaviour requiring sacrifice of an individual. The article shows the tension in Nałkowska’s diary, between what is collective, patriotic, and what is individual, private (patriotism is a great value for Nałkowska, but at the same time she realizes that it can be a source of nationalistic and chauvinistic behaviour). Finally, the article shows Nałkowska’s critical attitude, at the end of the war and just after the war, connected with the awareness that the regained independence is not a solution to all Polish problems.
