The review regards the monography dedicated to the institution of family councils on the land of central Poland in the XIXth century and includes a comprehensive analysis of the legal basis governing this institution, i.e. the regulations included in the Napoleonic Code and in the Civil Code of the Polish Kingdom. It also reveals the actual view of functioning of family councils in the practice of the peace courts of the provinces: Zgierz, Łęczyca and Łódź. The strong point of the reviewed study is utilizing the archival research, carried on by the author during the query at the National Archive in Łódź. The study constitutes the original solution of the research problem, not being undertaken broader in the current subject literature.

Recenzja dotyczy monografii poświęconej instytucji rad familijnych na centralnych ziemiach polskich w XIX wieku. Zawiera kompleksową analizę podstaw prawnych regulujących tę instytucję, tj. przepisów zawartych w Kodeksie Napoleona i Kodeksie Cywilnym Królestwa Polskiego, oraz przedstawia rzeczywisty obraz jej funkcjonowania w praktyce sądów pokoju powiatów: zgierskiego i łęczyckiego. Mocną stroną recenzowanego opracowania jest wykorzystanie dogłębnych badań archiwalnych, przeprowadzonych przez autorkę podczas kwerendy w Archiwum Państwowym w Łodzi. Opracowanie stanowi oryginalne rozwiązanie problemu badawczego, niepodejmowanego szerzej w dotychczasowej literaturze przedmiotu.
