The article presents the background and course of turbulent religious and social events in the Moscow state in the mid-17th century on the example of the life of father Ivan Neronov. He was one of the forerunners of the moral-religious renewal of the Romanov dynasty. It was interrupted by patriarch Nikon, who introduced liturgical changes. They led to a conflict with father Ivan and his associates. This is the beginning of a split within the Russian Orthodox Church and the creation of the (existing to this day) Old-Believer movement.

Artykuł ukazuje tło i przebieg burzliwych wydarzeń religijno-społecznych w państwie moskiewskim w połowie XVII w. na przykładzie życia o. Iwana Nieronowa. Był on jednym z prekursorów odnowy moralno-religijnej podjętej w czasach powstania dynastii Romanowów. Została ona przerwana przez patriarchę Nikona, który wprowadził zmiany liturgiczne. Doprowadziły one do konfliktu z o. Iwanem i jego współpracownikami. Był to początek rozłamu w Rosyjskim Kościele Prawosławnym i powstania, istniejącego do dziś, ruchu staroobrzędowego.
