In the Archives of the Norbertine Sisters in Imbramowice, among many important documents, there is the “The register of the things donated to the church after it had burnt down written on 1 August in 1712.” It was probably drawn up at the behest of abbess Zofia Grothówna, who managed the convent for almost forty years. Appointed to this function on 4 August 1703, she held office until her death, which occurred on 31 May 1741. The first notes about the donated things appeared in the registry on 1 August 1712, and it was almost entirely supplemented during the life of Zofia Grothówna. Only one, the last note was entered on 23 April 1742, during the reign of abbess Katarzyna Bąkowska and it concerns a chasuble given to the convent by her. There were a number of donors who supported the convent in Imbramowice in those difficult times. Among the donors there were both clergy and laymen. Abbess Zofia Grothówna was the one who gave the most things. In addition, Rev. Dominik Lochman donated a great number of valuable things. The information on donations are written in a very explicit way in the registry, which includes the information on the items handed over to the convent as well as the identity of individual donors. The registry information is arranged according to the time of its transfer to the convent. The objects listed in the registry are accompanied by a brief description, including the material which they were made of and the names of the donors.

The aim of the article is to discuss and present an edition of sources documenting the takeover of archive, library and art collections from the Norbertine Sisters’ Monastery in Czarnowąsy, dissolved on 24 November 1810. The material comes from the first and fifth volume of the so-called Büsching Papers and mostly consists of letters from 1810 and 1812. In addition, the edition includes correspondence of the local dissolution office concerning similar actions in other towns in Silesia (Brzeg, Gliwice, Głubczyce, Namysłów, Opole, Racibórz, Rudy). The most interesting information in this correspondence comes from letters dealing with the collections of the Norbertine Monastery in Czarnowąsy. Its library, in addition to all the writings of the Church Fathers and a large number of historical works, encompassed manuscripts dealing with the history of the local Norbertine Sisters well as the history of Upper Silesia and its nobility. Among the works of art amassed in the monastery, the one considered to be the most valuable was an unknown painting on wood. Büsching ordered “some silver” to be taken from Czarnowąsy to Wrocław. Works with themes similar to those found in Czarnowąsy were identified in the libraries of Cistercian monasteries in Rudy and Jemielnica, the Reformati convent in Namysłów and an unnamed monastery in Brzeg (of the Capuchins?). Apart from books, two very large and beautiful globes were found in Rudy.

Kościół pod wezwaniem św. Wawrzyńca można śmiało uznać za sakralną perełkę na terenie Kaszub. W 2013 roku kościół i wierni świętowali 770 rocznicę założenia. Obecny kościół, drugi z kolei, powstał na miejscu drewnianego, w XVIII wieku. Był on wielokrotnie przebudowywany i dekorowany.

It is safe to say that St. Lawrence’s Church in Luzino is a real gem of the Kashubian region. In 2013, the believers celebrated the 770th anniversary of its foundation. The present church was built in the place of previous one made of wood, from the 18th century. It has been frequently rebuilt and decorated. It still owns a rich equipment, due to this fact, the particular attention should be paid to the candlestick from the 18th century, two crucifixes and the altars, the main and two side. The main altar dates back to the 18th century. In the interior of the church, there is a bay where is situated the Gothic-like sculpture of the Madonna. The baroque, side altars were decorated with the pictures of saints depicting Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Lawrence, St. Joseph and St. John. On the arch, there is a bas-relief commemorating the evacuation of prisoners from the Stutthof concentration camp, which was made by Edmund Sztyfter in 1971 on the occasion of the beatification of Maximilian Kolbe. Unfortunately, as a result of changes that have followed over a span of church existance the precious wall paintings inside the building and the ornamantation of exterior walls disappered, as well as many other precious elements.

The article examines an inventory of monastic records kept in the Archdiocesan Archives in Gniezno. It covers archive documents from the Monastic Records section as well as archival units spread across various fonds in the archives. The Monastic Records section was established in the 1970s following a separation of monastic records from the Archives of the Metropolitan Chapter fonds. The section also encompasses archive documents from the Monastery of the Norbertine Sisters in Strzelno, which were transferred from Strzelno to Gniezno on Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński’s orders in 1961. The remaining part of the inventory is made up primarily of records from the period of dissolutions in the 18th and 19th centuries kept in the Archives of the Metropolitan Chapter fonds as well as records of the various parishes. The whole collection of archive documents is very rich and varied in terms of its contents, and concerns religious orders established in the Archdiocese of Gniezno before the 1850s.
