Objective – The aim of the article is to present tools for measuring the quality of libraries serving people with disabilities. Standards and indicators are presented in chronological order. The author focuses on the instruments which were created over the last ten years and relate to the quality aspects other than the accessibility of the library building. Research method –The methods of literature analysis and criticism were used. Results and conclusions – Libraries serving people with special needs are slightly different in terms of their collections, circulation forms and other library services. These differences result from the needs of customers with disabilities. The quality measurement tools developed to satisfy the needs of all libraries or their certain types have proved to be insufficient for libraries serving people with disabilities. Special instruments prepared under the auspices of IFLA will allow for the assessment of quality and resources of the libraries in question and they will be used in the planning process, benchmarking and improvement of library operations.

Teza/cel artykułu – Celem artykułu jest dokonanie przeglądu instrumentów do badania jakości bibliotek obsługujących osoby z niepełnosprawnością. Omówiono standardy i wskaźniki w chronologicznym porządku. Skupiono się na instrumentach, które powstały w ostatnich dziesięciu latach i odnoszą się do innych – aniżeli dostępność do budynku bibliotecznego – aspektów jakości. Metoda badań – Wykorzystano metodę analizy i krytyki źródeł i literatury przedmiotu. Wyniki i wnioski – Biblioteki obsługujące osoby z niepełnosprawnością cechuje pewna odmienność w zakresie gromadzonych zasobów, form ich udostępniania oraz oferowanych usług. Odmienność ta wynika z potrzeb niepełnosprawnych użytkowników. Opracowane na potrzeby wszystkich bibliotek lub określonych ich typów narzędzia badania jakości okazały się niewystarczające dla bibliotek adresujących swe usługi do osób z niepełnosprawnością. Przygotowane pod auspicjami IFLA instrumenty pozwolą na dokonanie oceny ich jakości i zasobów oraz zostaną wykorzystane w procesie planowania, ulepszania ich działań i podczas analiz benchmarkingowych.
