Celem pracy było przedstawienie biografii i dorobku naukowego Kazimierza Beina. W 1899 roku ukończył studia medyczne na Uniwersytecie w Kazaniu. Po studiach rozpoczął pracę w Instytucie Oftalmicznym w Warszawie gdzie współpracował z m.in. Bolesławem Gepnerem, Bolesławem Ryszardem Gepnerem, Walentym Kamockim i Bronisławem Ziemińskim. W 1904 roku wyjechał do Paryża by kontynuować naukę. W tym czasie zainteresował się językiem esperanto i stał się aktywnym działaczem na rzecz jego rozwoju. W 1908 roku współzałożył Polskie Towarzystwo Okulistyczne dla Królestwa Polskiego. W 1926 roku został kierownikiem przychodni w Instytucie Oftalmicznym, gdzie pracował do przejścia na emeryturę w 1936 roku. Zmarł w Łodzi w 1959 roku.

The purpose of this paper was to review biography and medical achievements of Kazimierz Bein. After graduating from Medical University in Kazan in 1899, he started working at Institute of Ophthalmology in Warsaw, where he co-operated with i. a. Bolesław Gepner, Bolesław Ryszard Gepner, Walenty Kamocki and Bronisław Ziemiński. In 1904 he visited Paris to continue his studies. This is where he found interest in esperanto language and started actively working for its development. He was one of the co-founders of Polish Society of Ophthalmology for Polish Kingdom created in 1908. In 1926 Kazimierz Bein became the head of ophthalmic clinic in Institute of Ophthalmology where he worked until his retirement in 1936. He died in 1959 in Lodz.
