The pilgrimages to the Holy Land in the Medieval Europe occupied a special position among other Christian devotional activities. In this article I would like to analyse the Old Scandinavian travels-pilgrimages – using the written sources – to the Middle East in the 11ᵗʰ–12ᵗʰ centuries. Their routes to Palestine (and sometimes the way back) led through the territory of Rus (the so-called Austrvegr “East Way”). I would also like to compare – to the extent possible – the routes of the Old Scandinavian pilgrimages to these performed at the same time by the Old Rus.

Паломничества в Святую землю в Средневековой Европе занимали особое место среди духовного самовыражения христиан. В рамках этой статьи, хотелось бы рассмотреть известные по письменным источникам древнескандинавские путешествия-паломничества на Ближний Восток в XI–XII вв., путь которых (в Палестину, а иногда и обратно) пролегал через территорию Руси (так называемый Austrvegr «Восточный путь»). И по возможности, сравнить пути этих путешествий с паломничествами древних русичей того же времени.
