The article explores the problem of presentation in financial statements of in-formation about revenues of segments. The author analyses International Finan-cial Reporting Standard 8 „Operating segments”. Basing on this, he discusses the relation between the reporting and the management view of separation of seg-ments according to the income criterion.The paper shows the relation between reporting segments and responsibility centers. The segmentation of activities based on income provides the basis for in-troduction of investment centers and income centers. It is in accordance with the postulate of integration of internal and external reporting relating to segments of activity.

W artykule badano problem prezentowania informacji o przychodach w sprawoz-daniach finansowych. Analizie autora podlega 8 Międzynarodowy Standard Spra-wozdań Finansowych „Segmenty operacyjne”. Na jego podstawie autor opisuje re-lację między sprawozdawczym a zarządczym punktem odniesienia do wyodrębnie-nia segmentów działalności według kryterium przychodów.W artykule ukazano także relacje między segmentami sprawozdawczymi a ośrod-kami odpowiedzialności. Segmentacja obszarów działalności według przychodów stwa-rza podstawy do wprowadzenia centrów inwestowania oraz centrów przychodów. Jest to zgodne z postulatem integracji sprawozdawczości zewnętrznej i wewnętrznej dotyczącej segmentów działalności.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badania poświęconego sprawozdawczości segmentowej spółek wchodzących w skład indeksu WIG-20. Celem badania była analiza sposobu i zakresu prezentacji informacji na temat segmentów operacyjnych w rocznych sprawozdaniach finansowych. Analizie poddano zarówno ogólne informacje o segmentach operacyjnych, jak i szczegółowe dane finansowe dotyczące poszczególnych segmentów.

The article presents the results of the research devoted to segment reporting of public compianies listed on Warsaw Stock Exchange. The aim of the research was the analysis of the scope of segment disclosures in consolidated annual reports. Analysis included general information about operating segments as well as specific items about each each reportable operating segment.
