Celem artykułu jest określenie wpływu integracji europejskiej na działalność rolniczych spółdzielni produkcyjnych (RSP) z perspektywy zarządzających nimi spółdzielców. Obiekt badań stanowiły RSP aktywnie prowadzące działalność na terenie województwa opolskiego. W artykule rozważano cele i formy unijnego wsparcia rolników w kontekście realizacji Wspólnej Polityki Rolnej. Przedstawiono opinię spółdzielców na temat pozytywnych i negatywnych konsekwencji członkostwa Polski w UE względem działalności RSP oraz sposoby wykorzystania przez nie finansowych środków pomocowych.

The purpose of this article is to determine the impact of European integration on the performance of agricultural productive cooperatives (APCs) from the perspective of their managers. The object of research included the APCs that operate in the region of Opole. The paper considers objectives and forms of the EU support for farmers in the context of implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy. Opinions of the cooperative members about positive and negative consequences of the Polish EU membership that influences the APCs’ performance and the ways of taking advantage of the EU financial aid are presented.

The paper provides selected conclusions of the foreign employees demand study. This research, in which 263 companies were investigated, was carried out in the Opolskie Voivodeship. It was a unique study in the region, it included interviews with both: employers with employment of foreigners experience and those who didn’t use such labour. The aim of the research was to find out the reasons of foreigners employment and factors which could encourage companies to look for workers from aboard. Its goal was also to recognize why business in the region still do not employ foreigners very often. The acquisition of the potential and realised demand of foreigners work in the Opolskie Voivodeship. It was perceived that the main reason to employ foreigners for the companies was the lack of staff with needed skills. Among those who still do not employ foreigners but considering doing this, the decisive cause could be the shortage of employees ready to take the job with proposed wage.

W artykule omówione zostały wybrane wyniki badań dotyczących popytu na pracę cudzoziemców w przedsiębiorstwach. Przeprowadzone zostały wśród 263 pracodawców z województwa opolskiego. Były to badania pionierskie w regionie, ponieważ objęły zarówno pracodawców mających doświadczenie w zatrudnianiu zagranicznych pracowników, jak również po raz pierwszy wśród respondentów znalazły się także te firmy, które dotychczas nie korzystały z pracy obcokrajowców. Badania miały na celu zarówno ustalenie powodów, które skłaniają pracodawców do zatrudniania cudzoziemców, jak również wskazanie czynników, które mogłyby nakłonić pracodawców do sięgnięcia po zagranicznego pracownika. Ich zadaniem było także określenie przyczyn, które sprawiają, że przedsiębiorcy nie zatrudniają obcokrajowców. Chodziło więc o uzyskanie informacji na temat popytu zrealizowanego i potencjalnego na pracę obcokrajowców w województwie opolskim. Ustalono, że w przypadku pracodawców zatrudniających obcokrajowców, głównym powodem korzystania z pracy cudzoziemca był brak pracowników o poszukiwanych kwalifikacjach. Wśród pracodawców nie zatrudniających obcokrajowców i rozważających zatrudnienie obcokrajowca czynnikiem, który przesądziłby o sięgnięciu po zagraniczną siłę roboczą byłby brak pracowników gotowych pracować za oferowaną płacę

Opole Region occupied a most significant place in the studies conducted by Kazimierz Orzechowski, who took part in the action of securing archival acts of Opole Regency after the War. The Polish school system in Silesia was the subject of his doctoral dissertation. He paid a lot of attention to the legal situation of peasants in Opole Region in the 19th century. He was also one of the co-founders of Studia Śląskie. Seria nowa (The Silesian Studies. A New Series) and the Silesian Institute in Opole. For many years he cooperated with The Silesian Studies and Opole Quarterly. Apart from the research into the history of Opole Region, K. Orzechowski also made a great contribution to the development of Opole historical centre. He was the founder and the first Head of the Chair of History at Teacher’s Training College in Opole. He worked for almost twenty years there. He was a supervisor and reviewer of doctoral dissertations and works submitted to obtain professor’s degree by research workers at the College, as well as a member of the board in charge of conferring the professor’s degree.

Social side of agricultural co-operatives. The case of agricultural production co-operatives in the Opole voivodeship

The aim of the article is to describe the social side of agricultural co-operatives and also to analyse what factors can in- or decrease this part of activity of agricultural production co-operatives (APCs). In the introduction to the article a definition of the aim of the paper, is provided, as well as a short explanation what the APCs really are. Next, the article describes the social side of activity of agricultural co-operatives. Then it presents how to measure it using the rate of social activity (RSA) proposed by the author. The last part of the article is the analysis, based on the data collected from the 28 APCs that operate in the Opole voivodeship shows the influence of selected factors on social activity in co-operatives. The findings show what and how strongly can increase the social activity in agricultural cooperatives.

Celem artykułu jest opisanie społecznej strony spółdzielni rolniczych oraz przeanalizowanie, jakie czynniki mogą zwiększać lub zmniejszać tę część działalności w przypadku rolniczych spółdzielni produkcyjnych (RSP). We wstępie sformułowano cel opracowania oraz umieszczono krótkie wyjaśnienie, czym są RSP. Następnie w artykule zaprezentowano społeczną stronę działalności spółdzielni rolniczych. W kolejnej części przedstawiono, w jaki sposób można ją mierzyć, wykorzystując wskaźnik działalności społecznej (WDS) zaproponowany przez autorkę. W ostatniej części artykułu, na podstawie danych zebranych z 28 RSP działających na Opolszczyźnie, dokonano analizy wpływu wybranych czynników na działalność społeczną spółdzielni. Wyniki pokazują, co i z jaką siłą wpływa na działalność społeczną spółdzielni rolniczych.
