Treść niniejszego artykułu obejmuje wybrane zagadnienia podkreślające istotę działań menedżera w procesie zarządzania współczesną organizacją. W znacznym stopniu podkreślona została specyfika funkcjonowania organizacji opartej na wiedzy i znaczenie wiedzy dla rozwoju całego systemu organizacyjnego. Również istotnym obszarem rozważań w artykule jest zakres udziału kadry kierowniczej i stawianych jej wymagań w sprawnym zarządzaniu. Ponadto zwrócona została uwaga na znaczenie działań menedżera w oddziaływaniu na postawy podwładnych, głównie poprzez zaangażowanie w wykonywaną pracę i stwarzanie warunków sprzyjających rozwojowi organizacji uczącej się.

This article is about specific aspects of a manager's role in management of a today's organization. It talks about the specifics of a knowledge-based organization and emphasizes the importance of knowledge in the development of an organisational system. Requirements set for the managers and level of the management's participation in effective management are discussed as well. Finally, the article emphasizes the importance of a manager's behaviour (especially involvement and fostering organisational development) for development of employees' attitudes.
