The article on the pension system in Malta contains, besides the introductory part, four parts: 1. General information about the country in question. 2. Evolution of the pension system. 3. Present situation of the pension system and 4. Challenges and predictable changes in the pension system. The research objective of the author is to present past and current solutions, as well as to indicate trends in reforming the pension system of Malta. To sum up, the author indicates, against the background of other states, a unique element of the Maltese pension system, namely a total lack of other pension systems for selected professional groups beyond the existing one.
