The aim of this study is a critical analysis of the Trinitarian Theology and Pneumatology of R. Špaček (1864–1925), the author of the first complete university textbook of Dogmatic Theology (1922 – 1926 – 1930) written in Czech. In its introduction, the author explains the reasons for this study and presents the basic hermeneutic points of view of his analysis. He consequently introduces the life and work of Richard Špaček and presents Špaček’s three texts which deal with Trinitarian Theology and Pneumatology. The work of Špaček is characterized by methodological discipline, knowledge of co–temporary literature and an excellent level of language. At the same time it is apparent that his thinking suffers from the same deficiencies which were typical for Dogmatic Theology of his era, but in Špaček’s work there are some elements which are relevant up to the present.
