'Nyugat' was the most acclaimed Hungarian periodical in the field of literature studies published in the years 1908-1941 which attracted the most prominent representatives of contemporary Hungarian cultural life. Its mission was to support the development of Hungarian literature based on modern European literature trends. 'Nyugat' published translations of foreign literary pieces as well as papers and reviews of foreign literature, including polonica. The most interesting ones discussed Polish literature and cultural events and presented contemporary political situation of Poland.
