The paper introduces a few basic theses of the current music semiotics in the context of possible application in music education at secondary schools. It clarifies the principles of the language of music (i. e., of a paradigm), which differ on every level of style and genre, and takes the language of Mozart’s classicism as a base for conscious listening to a musical composition. A unique method which is aimed at the verification of the results of work is presented in the article as well.

We brought arguments in favor of the ontological character of information, along with energy and substance, as well as the structural-phenomenological unity at all scales and levels of reality. We used an interdisciplinary, inductivedeductive methodology, within the broad framework of the naturalistic conception. Our argumentation started from the current reality, which is the impact of information technology, of information networks, of virtual reality and of artificial intelligence, insisting on the role of information in the gnosiological approach. The preponderance of a logical reductionist positivism in scientific research, as well as the exaggerated focus on particle and high energy-physics, but also a certain axiomatic blockage connected to the existence of the immaterial, have made it possible for the problem of information to be almost completely eluded. Even Shannon and Weaver’s (1963) information theory considers information only from a quantitative viewpoint, and only through its relation to entropy and the second law of Thermodynamics. The development of chaos theory, fractal geometry and topology in the field of non-linear dynamics, and especially the spectacular development of information technology in the last two decades, necessitate a systematic analysis of defining information and its importance in the structuring of reality along with energy and substance. From this perspective, all our concepts, from physical reality to psychological imaginary reality, can be coherently understood through the same paradigms, irrespective of whether we are talking about conservation law, the Euclidean dimension, the fractal or topological dimension or the multidimensional processing mechanism through syntactic, semantic, pragmatic and hermeneutic processing of human and artificial language and knowledge. This new paradigm is the informational one, which assumes the existence of a functional, phenomenological, potential background represented by information, and which can be mathematically modeled through topology.

The paper aims at presenting the philosophy of pragmatism as an epistemological framework for mixed methods research. The author starts with brief characteristics of this relatively recent approach to research in the social sciences and uses Morgan’s clarification of the genesis of „metaphysical“ paradigm for qualitative research as a platform for analysing the main reasons why mixed methods research has been strongly criticized and refused. Then she shifts her attention to classical pragmatists – W. James, J. Dewey and Ch. S. Pierce, and makes an attempt to show mixed methods research as a legitimate approach to research in the social sciences having equally important status as quantitative or qualitative research. In order to prove her point, the author gives a detailed analysis of the pragmatists’ theory of inquiry, their understanding of truth, experience and other philosophical categories. She concludes that mixed methods research has great potential to solve research questions whose solution proves impossible for rigid advocates of either of the two currently dominant approaches.

Many scientific disciplines, including supply chain management, have noted a change in the attitude to global problems haunting the environment, such as increasing amounts of waste, global warming or decreasing biodiversity. In the 20th century many overlapping concepts and theories about specific environmental issues were developed, e.g. reverse logistics, eco-logistics or green logistics. The article presents a theoretical discussion on logistics paradigm. Main research trends running in logistics and supply chain management are also presented and the development prospects of logistics are highlighted.

The authors of this text present the philosophical basis in which the relationship of communication and integration is seen in a new context. It deals with the tight involvement of language acquisition in the formation of social identity. Both are examined in the process of the development of pragmatic competence as the fundamental component of communicative competence. The alternative stance offered by the authors underlines and explains the major tendencies of foreign language teaching – to distance themselves from narrowly linguistic approach and to aim at communications thoroughly. At the end of the text, the authors introduce a hint of a possible research design that grasps the relationship between pragmatic competence and social identity.

W artykule poddano weryfikacji hipotezę o współistnieniu logistyki społecznej w ramach logistyki wojskowej i gospodarczej, odrzucającą novum logistyki społecznej na poziomie konceptualnym.

Increased importance of social problems in the modern world, such as migration crisis in Europe, or ageing of the population and increase in the number of civilization diseases has drawn the attention of scientific community to the possibility of using the existing paradigm of logistics to clarify and solve social problems. Social logistics constitutes a proposal of subjective conceptualization of socially-oriented detailed logistics, in which social matters dominate, and begins to be recognized as third, “pure” form of logistics apart from military and economic logistics. The related controversy requires deep reflection on the paradigm of logistics from the perspective of the philosophy of science. In the article one verifies the hypothesis on coexistence of social logistics within the frames of military and economic logistics, rejecting the novum of social logistics as a concept.
