Pastoral Pedagogy is one of the youngest subdisciplines of pedagogy. Its study concern the educational function of the Church. The paper shows general and specific objectives in terms of pastoral pedagogy as a science, and pedagogy in the context of the tasks of the Church. The author presents the process of developing the pastoral pedagogy and its past achievements in Poland. The article exposes contemporary challenges and responsibilities for pastoral education.
