The officers of the State Police and Police of the Silesian Province, as one corps, were a special professional group that performed tasks which distinguished it from other professions, apart from uniformed services, in the Second Republic. Those responsibilities could not be carried out under the eight-hour system because they required round-the-clock service. Police officers were obliged to constantly observe socio-political life, both when on and off duty. In order to ensure security and public peace they conducted activities as part of the prevention/repression system, with their relevant prerogatives, the most drastic being the right to use arms. That is why it was extremely important to select appropriate candidates who would meet the expected requirements.
