This paper presents an anonymous and unknown poem from the manuscript written by a Polish Arian, Andrzej Lubieniecki (Remonstrants’ Library in Rotterdam, MS 527). It is the first truly comprehensive poetic description of the Netherlands. The composition of the poem is ruled by rhetoric – the laudatory topic of a place and a person. The anonymous author’s opinion is confronted with that expressed by Jakub Kazimierz Haur in his poem O holenderskich krainach z narodem (part of Haur’s Mercurius… MS 191 Library of the University of Warsaw MS 191). The anonymous description is written from the Arian point of view; its author admires the spirit of liberty and the dynamism observed in Holland.
